Gunmen have abducted a reporter with Channels TV, in Rivers State, Joshua Rogers.

According to reports, Rogers was abducted on Thursday night, near his residence in Rumuosi, Obio/Akpor local government area, (LGA).

The journalist was said to have covered the inauguration of a healthcare facility in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni LGA, as donated to the state government by Peter Odili, former governor of Rivers.

He was returning home when he was abducted.

When contacted, the State’s Commissioner for Information in Rivers,  Joseph Johnson, said he is not aware of the development.

The Commissioner said he exchanged pleasantries with the reporter at the event on Thursday,, promising to verify the kidnapping and revert, but was unable to do so as of the time of filing this report.

The Police Command spokesperson in Rivers, Grace Iringe-Koko, declined comment on the reporters abduction.

Rogers abductors have reportedly contacted the family and are demanding N30 million in ransom.
